good for you
My last day on a 6 month consulting assignment was last Friday
I am greatly enjoying the time off. For 6 months, I had no life Monday-Friday due to work and commuting
Most folks here in the US are what I call ' wage slaves' . They are completely locked in to a job they do not like but tolerate since there bills/monthly expenses that are a heavy weight |
100% in agreement.
I worked at Coke for nearly 10years. It's funny but my last year there I had made 70,000, not including what I could have made in Nov and Dec, the busiest days of the year.. it was eye opening not working 12-18hour days! It's been more than a year and I don't know what to do. I want to do music and get paid for it. I wish I could! _________________ Keyboards: TritonExtreme88 Tweaked beyond all Recognition!

hey doc. same up here to an extant
I have worked in high tech for most of my career, which involves 65 hour work weeks
I tired out from that and have been consulting ( working 3-6 month assignments) the past 2 years. That fits me much better.
If you can handle it financially, the hours are much better.
I don't have any expectations of making $$ in the music business _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

Hi Lorenzo,
you would be astonished to learn what extra length some "bosses" go through to inform themselves.
I would recommend you as a friend not to post such on fora that can be freely accessed.
6 Euro something?
Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy and Sweden do not operate statutory minimum rates, but nevertheless have minimum rates set through binding sectoral collective agreements that jointly cover a high proportion of the working population.
Italy does not operate statutory minimum rates, which in my view should be made mandantory for any european memberstate. |

thanx for the advice but I know 2 things that you don't know cos I didn't mention here... 1 is that all of my boss do not know a single word in english... and 2 all I wrote here well... in first I told them about it... so I don't have to hide anything. Anyway... I'm working as an audio technician for a real orchstra right now... maybe they don't pay me a lot but I have the chance to know really great players and great people... I'm very happy about my choices!

Excellent learning curve and experience. If you know how to mike an orchestra, believe me, you'll know how to mike anything. |

Shoot,
in my 15th yr with my current employer, and changed depts last Apr - after 13+ yrs in the old one !!! It's the golden handcuffs thing.. can't afford to stay, can't afford to leave....
Meantime, I still gig 3-4 times a month, mostly in "A" venues, but have no illusions of ever making a living doing so. Bars, clubs, weddings, festivals, restaurants, private, corporate, etc.....
In the last 6 yrs, I've played everywhere from the front-porch of a double-wide, to an airport hangar, to teeny bar stages, to hotel ballrooms and the Miss Texas Pageant (1200+ people in a hall!)....
I don't intend to quit either job anytime soon....

I'm just come back from Wien where I recorded the last concert of the Orchestra... I'll have a long weeks in front of me to put all the recordings on some CD... so I'm still not missing my work... eh eh eh!
