Hi guys!!

Lorenzo a few days ago wrote me an email in padrino-like style..."I've got a proposal you can't refuse" Wink
Well, he was talking about subscribe to the OSAM...I would really love to be counted in, BUT...: now I'm working 8 hours a day as a java/oracle programmer, and I'm still studying choir conduction at the conservatory.
So, considering I conduct 2 choirs, too, I really have a few time to make music.

At the moment I'm arranging various songs for my vocal band...so...if I can post these arrangments and receive feedback from you, I will be more than pleased to share my work.

If I'm not misunderstanding the meaning of that OSAM and what George has is his mind, I think that we just want to make our music and share it with other people; and considering our crazy life-rhythm, we won't start a single note if we don't have a deadline...Am I right??
So, from my point of view, anyone who is going to consider the possibility to be counted in, please jump into OSAM and tell your personal deadline: it doesn't matter if is one soung a month, or two song a year, but respect the deadline and force yourself to make your music!!!
It won't be hard, it should be a pleasure Very Happy

Let me know if I can be counted in, and if you agree with me.

Regards

Diego, I believe you totally qualify for the OSAM club. As long as you're going to be posting a song a month that you're producing and want feedback and support then why not, these do not have to be solo works. I'll put you down and you yourself know what these deadlines will mean for your own work.

Thanks a lot guy!

My ideas are to arrange various songs (some folk italian songs and some other more famous) for a mixed vocal band...
I still don't know how to give them to you to receive feedback, I was considering I can sing these parts creating a DiegoVocalBand Wink

BTW, thanks a lot for counting me in!

Regards

Well, your contribution here will certainly be something special and different. We have a good variety, which will keep this very interesting.

You're sooooo much right!!
When Lorenzo wrote me, he was so excited because great people and musicians were going to take part to that OSAM.
We've got grungelectric punk, dance, electronica, jazz/funk, choral stuff...
It's really going to be interesting!

BTW, I've just talked with Lorenzo and we found a way to collaborate (well, not a real collaboration, he's going to do a lot of work for me, thanks a lot guy Embarassed ) so I record all vocals and he will process my track with his Vocal Design card on the V-Synth, because I can't sing like a woman Wink

Can't wait to start!!

Thanks a lot!

So far it's Dee, George, Ellll, and Daz? Anyone else? Adding SEWA now and Lorenzo. 6 so far and counting.
Now Jonsolo is in. And I don't know how I missed Jazlover so that does make eight. DRwho is nine. Any more takers? I'd say we can take any others up until Feb ends. If anyone wants to jump in by then with a posted song they're officially in by my book.

Jaz: we'll have to figure out how to check your name off the list from month to month if you're going to do the 6 song thing every other month. Maybe I'll put N/A by your name for the off months or something like that.

Let's add Diego. That makes an even 10

I am very pleased to see this big response, (compared to the one or two to start with!!!).. I am indeed pleased to be allowed in good company again...

I just want to warn that I am still really not very "updated" and hope you will accept my classical-based ideas...they are hard to get away from..and I am still inclined to write "orchestral style" percussion... To Wit:

I have worked for several days on a rock drum trc...and thats with this sorry Casio sittin' here to use for at least an idea...and it still sounds like ----!!

Oh well..you know I am old and old fashioned..and you let me in...I am still on the O1Wfd..but looking for a tag-along...something like the M3..but much cheaper..in rack form, so I can just use it with my O1W...At least I'm still playn'...

Best Regards!!! John (ellll) Rolling Eyes

Ps..You have all encouraged me..and I have just got excited again..so I am startin back right now..just stayin' with it till something works!! John

Ellll, I have loved some of your pieces the most of all the songs I've heard posted in Korg Forums. Your wealth of experience and natural talents are sonically light years above a much younger person, and I appreciate everything you do, because it suggests a well-developed ear and mind for composition. We can all learn much from your compositions as well as your kind thoughts regarding our more "modern" songs. Besides there is nothing more timeless than classical. It will be here a hundred years from now. More than can be said for some more popular styles. So don't feel the need to apologize. I'll be the one apologizing for my experiments. The song I'm working on right now is a lyrical mess. But I'll get it polished up by the first week of Feb hopefully.

Personally I am very excited about the diversity of this bunch. When you have too much of the same things going on it can begin to feel like a competition. From my past experience OSAM is about sparking creativity and work on the part of us as enthusiastic musical creators, and not some web based "Who Wants to be a Star" deal.

The feedback I have received on my past work has driven me to compose, arrange, and produce better than I could have on my own. The applause I received for my hard work encouraged me to continue. So whether we are looking for personal growth or simply a motivating force to keep us writing, I think this will be a fantastic arena to present our goods for the laundering they deserve: that from our peers.

All this having been said I must admit the excitement of this caused me to churn out a song today. So I am going to begin Solofying it, and should have it for you guys by sometime next week. (I have two gigs this weekend so no time to drop the vocals till next week.)

Jon

Ditto to Jonsolo there on all accounts. Tonight I figured out the lyrics for my bridge section that I have spent more than a week on. I just couldn't get the complete idea of the song formulated and it remained vague. Now the true intent and meaning is clear as a bell and it reaches its zenith at the bridge where I needed it to go. So this board is helping already.

Awesome George! Can't wait to hear it!

Now I am frustrated. HA! I wanna drop vocals.

I may do a rough draft for you guys to hear so I can have a little feedback when I get back into town to work with. Wink

As far as the "rules" are concerned, I do like the idea of committed to a deadline. But to keep it working, I don't think a mere song or two in a year is much of a commitment. Six minimum is my suggestion.

And we should post in separate threads labeling ourselves and the month we are submitting for, as previously done.

Whaddya think everyone?!?!

Solo

EDIT- Oh, is the deadline to have the first song BY February 8th and then due the 8th of each month? I like that idea if it is.

Great George!!
Unfortunatly yesterday night was not that great for me, because I didn't wrote own a single interesting note.
It's all already in my head, I clearly have in my mind how to arrange it and how I want it to sound, but it's really hard to transfer on the white paper...!

What I find really annoying is that the best ideas come when I've got nothing to write them down...I must start to go around with a pencil and a blank music sheet so I don't loose my idea...or, better, I can start the recorder on my phone and sing it Laughing Laughing Laughing
