Hello all,

Wanted to find out what everyone does with the folding touch screen when you're not using the Pa5X. When playing, I normally use it slightly tilted up in the first stand position. When I'm powered off for more than a few hours, I fold it all the way down to avoid any possibility of damage. I'm wondering if it's just better to leave it tilted up all the time in order to not wear out the mechanical hinge. What do you normally do and what are your thoughts on the durability of the touchscreen hinge?

Rocco

Hi Rocco, I leave mine as is. I don't transport my keyboard anywhere either, so there is no need for me to set the screen back down. I also put a screen protector over it to reduce fingerprint marks and smudging.

I’d hope the mechanism is robust enough to perform as it should on a professional keyboard, i.e. being set up and taken down on a nightly basis, and being tilted at all available positions according to overhead light reflections on stage. If it can’t be relied upon to do its basic job, then there’s no way it should be considered professional standard. Hope yours holds up.

Hi Rocco

If the PA5x build and materials are the same as the PA4x, then you'll have no problems. I raise and lower my screen every time I play (i.e. power ON/OFF)

Very Happy

Yeah, I lift mine to the first position and when I power off, I lower it again before putting my cover on.

Used with care, I can't see any problems.
