installed the new OS1.3 update this morning and tested a lot of the new things and improvements. All I can say is that I'm really impressed about all the new features.

- The kaos pad works really good (the density and filter has always been one of my favorite kaos pad settings) and it's great to have it on the main screen available
- the chord editing functions are a nice addon to the existing chord variation. Also great that you can assign now multiple chord sequences to the matrix pads
- the new matrix pad implementation is really good, I also really like the new Setlist assignment features to the matrix buttons which makes going through your songs a breeze
- the enhanced storage locations, the extra preload memory, the huge upgrade to the sample amounts, the support for stereo samples
- the integration with the free software sampler TX16Wx makes it so easy to convert sound fonts to sample sets for the pa5x, which is easy to learn for people that start with samples
- the new audio paths with includes now backing tracks through the limiter instead of the old direct out signal paths
- the new styles are fantastic with quite a few famous songs in there
- and there is much more (also on the style editing site which has improved a lot)
- the list is huge

I'm working on the tutorial storyboards already and this weekend the first new tutorials will be available, and you can do some really special things with this new OS.

The OS Update and Reset document included in the software download is in Japanese.

I cannot figure out what the new styles are. Is there maybe a list with the new styles?

In comparing my transition from the Pa4X to the PA5X, I have observed certain disparities in the functionality and performance effects of the "Rhythm Rig & Halo" feature from KAOSS.

While this feature proved highly effective in the Pa4X in many cases, its performance in comparison appears diminished in the PA5X.

After a thorough examination of KAOSS, I have concluded that these issues for me (and most likely me alone) stem from fundamental differences between the two software versions.

Regrettably, this feature has become somewhat redundant for my purposes for now.

Fortunately, the inclusion of the Dual Style player in PA5X compensates greatly for any specific KAOSS deficiency, albeit with some meticulous editing.

Overall, OS V1.3.0 is a positive and welcomed development Smile

Yes! Thank you Qui! I was hoping for more tutorials. You have done so much to enhance my enjoyment of my Korg keyboards, I am forever grateful.

If you download the OS v1.2.1, you will find this document included:

-- Pa5X OS Update and Reset (EFGISC).pdf

Hi,
Overall this has to be a positive day for the PA5X. An O/S that finally gives us some stability. Sadly I cannot share patpsc's optimism but I'll take anything at the moment. I know Korg could not carry on like this as they were gradually destroying their reputation over one flagship arranger keyboard. Whatever the likes of Qui and Antony may say, it's divided Members on these Forums and caused numerous arguments between us. I think Karmathanever got it totally right by refusing to upgrade from his trusty PA4X. I know that I deeply regret buying my PA5X and once the buttons are replaced it will be sold or part exchanged for a different arranger.

A couple of things confuse me, firstly why the Korg Management Team around the World would so totally disrespect their paying Customers who invested in this their most expensive Flagship keyboard, almost being smug in their disregard for us. No information whatsoever was given out, no explanation, absolutely nothing, not even an apology for the way this has all been handled.

My second confusion comes when Korg released a list of frequently asked questions and answers nearly two years ago stating that they were working on a new design of the quick record engine that would be implemented in the next O/S update. Two O/S updates have passed and still no quick record yet KAOSS has now been implemented. KAOSS is quite an apt name for the keyboard in my opinion.

I'm sure the pro-players among us will hail the PA5X from the rooftops, but I have read enough on these Forums to realise they are in a minority.
Chris

Chris, I understand your perspective.

Many potential customers will be considering whether to invest in future Korg arranger keyboards based on the company's performance and recovery from PA5X given its history.

What will be important for many post OS V1.3.0 will be the duration it takes Korg to implement future updates, and this will significantly influence customers' decisions, including my own.

Finally, the essential functions now added to style editor plus kaoss…etc

Waiting to see from serious sound developers what will propose now that sample memory allocation is doubled with user Drum RR functions

Hi Laurance,
I also think it will be good for the PA Manager 5.1 software. They have already said they are writing software to enable it to work with O/S 1.3.0.
I know there were certain restrictions with O/S 1.2.1

Hi Chris,

It will be a good add for those who use it indeed.

personally, I only have time for composing, but I do modify each style/sound, the UNDO and NOTE DELETE made my work more confortable.

I hope YAMAHA will make a HUGE update for GENOS 2 also.

Regards
