I know about the FS "free styles" on the Pa4x.

But I am wondering if you have heard about any software, DAW-based arranger programs that will take a midi file as chord input and then output some sophisticated classical arrangements?

Hi Minneapolis

Band in a box allows this. It scans the midi file and extracts the chords. These can then be pasted into a blank template.

Regards

Thanks Keith for answering.

I do have Band in a Box. I was thinking of something with much more sophisticated classical arrangements on a chord. Different motifs I can splice together.

Have you tried to feed the style - generating -bot of Pa4X with a MIDI file of a classical piece? It could generate something that might be an interesting starting point?

You/some might find it interresting to read about Midi-MashUps.

Generating music - and arrangements - by artificial intelligence has been experimented with a long time, even before MIDI. Much of what has been done with MIDI is transportable. Now, there exist code libraries in Phyton, which will run on most platforms. It is possible to incorporate that in plugins in various DAWs.

In my own work I sometimes scan computer generated results for use as a starting point new/odd idea I probably would not have explored otherwise. The trend in computer music seems to be using sound as input, not MIDI.

peace

Hi, don’t think there’s much around in the way of classical styles, Yamaha had some in the way of an expansion pack, russian classical ( something like that) pretty awful. Some of the Yamaha “ free styles “ were nice, so I was planning on putting together a bit of a data base of classical pad loops instead of styles , and using them with the free styles. ie add piano , harpsichord whatever.
Worked well with the sx900 as it has a sync start function button ie I can press the pads I want to use and they don’t start playing till style starts playing.

I’ll probably end up doing the same thing for my pa5x, put together a pad database, I can at least audition a pad with the free style and end up importing into the style if necessary.

Unfortunately I’m not aware of any pc programs that do what you want, apart from BIAB.
