I'm pretty sure I've heard other numbers, something more like 192? Over 100, to be sure.

But again, when the device is also a MIDI master that can drive other devices hard, that's a very artificial limit. I can use my Force to drive my Kross and my Krome and my Blofeld and my Pipes and my stack of Volcas and various desktop monosynths at the same time - and then I'm well over 200 parallel voices.

I guess since its not based on a dsp structure.. it makes polyphony much more variable, like on Kronos or even a Daw where there is no hard polyphony number, but more like a soft one based on how much processor power you are using..

i am trying it since couple of weeks and have to say it's quite different from what we consider to be a workstation.
it's great for studio work especially if you like or are used to mpc workflow.
the integrated key added a much smoother workflow than having a mpc live/x with a midi key and the cv/gate make sequencing your eurorack or other analog synth quite easy.
sound-wise is what you expect from an mpc, modern and oriented to r&b, hip-hop etc etc the added piano, ep and organ are good but are not standing to what a flagship workstation or a dedicated stage piano like nord provide today.
it has some quirks that made it not very usable live, like browsing sound de-fact load sample into ram, just 4 plugin at a time, no smooth transition between patches, loading time to change project is quite long...
so, overall, if you like sampling and working in studio is a great substitution to a daw, but it's not a workstation /stage piano killer to me

The mere fact it will always be slow at changing sounds means it's entirely impracticable as a Live Instrument for anyone who gigs in the traditional sense you would normally buy a workstation or a Synth for. In the Studio there's time to wait, but personally, this is also unacceptable for me. Given my MPC-X has the same limitations, and the exact same workflow, I decided to simply give up and sell my MPC as it was just not getting any use. Simply didn't fit with my workflow and I don't think AKAI will get this right for many years and some future generation of keyboard.

Decided to put the money towards a Hydrasynth Delux which should arrive in a week or so. That should be a far better fit for me.

Regards
Sharp.
