Wow, back after 7 days offline. That's the longest the forum has been off air.
Good to have it back :-)
Thanks to all involved. |

Maybe it was a server upgrade? Previously, it was 30-60 seconds to post a message. My post above completed in 5 seconds. |

Most of the previous "losses of service" tended to coincide with Microsoft Update Tuesdays when I think the server OS updated automatically, but the bulletin board-based forum service didn't start automatically after the reboot. This latest gap in availability was due to something else. Apparently the server was totally offline at Korg USA, although www.korgforums.com could be resolved to an IP address and was pingable. Sharp might be kind enough to elaborate further.

Hi all.
Yes, we are back. As always, I'm very appreciative of the fact that KORG USA have donated the server use to us for free as well as the technical support to keep it online. As part of our growth, this offer has really allowed us to grow to the size we are given we are a 100% non-profit site.
As for why we were offline, I'm still trying obtain the exact details. All I know at this moment in time is that there were “server issues” and that the server we use is ageing. Needless to say, I'm worried by that, and I'm very interest in knowing what that exactly means for our future on this server.
I can only assume at this point it's a red flag to say that we will need a new server at some point very soon. At this moment in time I can't really make any plans until I have clarity on that issue.
Kind regards
Sharp. |

Is all the content backed up somewhere, such that if you had to move the forum software to a new server, all the old posts would be retained? |

Is it just me, or has the internet been getting crazier out there?
In the past month or so, my browser refuses to connect to many sites I would previously visit without issue with the error "your connection is insecure." I read it is because the site owner needs to update their SSL certificates.
Locally, I've had to reset my own modem several times in the past few weeks due to frequent reconnection and plummeting data rates. The Kyle internet fix (unplugging and plugging in the router and the modem) sometimes works, but I've also had to call my ISP via their automated system to send a reset ping to my modem to restore download data rate.
You might have also noticed that YouTube is removing from public view the total number of dislikes a videos has received. YouTube has been silently deploying and rolling out this modification across all platforms and all clients. The account owner of an uploaded video can see the total number of dislikes, but the public cannot. _________________ bpoodoo

Thank you for clearing that up. I'm very grateful for this forum. I hope Korg themselves will support you better because a lot of info that is of importance to Korg themselves is on this forum in my opinion. Having said that, I believe this forum runs on phpBB2 software which is getting old and may not supported anymore (dunno for sure). Maybe somebody computer savvy might help you to update the software. My browser says that the connection is "not secure". I don't give a d*mn 'bout that because I trust these forums. However, browsers in the future might make a problem of this.
Again, I'd like to emphasize that I'm very grateful for this forum and the work that's been done to keep it online, probably by one single person. Thanks man! |

It turns out that the PHP error is displayed after every post, but the posting is actually successful. _________________ Kronos2 73, Presonus StudioLive, Cakewalk / Sonar Platinum, Windows 10 |
