|
|
A month ago I bought a used Kronos X 88. OS 3.1.3.
The first thing I noticed when playing Kronos pianos is that on some notes, no matter how hard I press, sound is more mellow/dull/deaf, just like hammer felts are hitting strings not the same as keys around.
When I switch to HD-1 pianos, they have no such effect. EP-1 electric pianos behave much more consistent, but I also can detect some velocity/timbral imperfections.
When I connected Kronos to MOXF6 via MIDI and played MOXF piano, everything sounded properly.
Is my Kronos keybed problematic or is it a problem of piano sampling?

A very simply to find out if some key contacts have problems is to use the transpose parameter. If the notes sounding different in volume move as you transpose, it's the samples. Otherwise if the loudness differences stay on the same keys after transposing, you will need to clean the contacts or change them depending on wear. |

if Moxf sounds fine ... then i'd suspect variations in sampled notes/velocities ... like you'd find on a real piano ... which patch and notes ... maybe others can check their Kronos .?! _________________ Korg Kronos 88 , Yam MODX , Dexibell S7 Pro , Emu Proteus 2000 , various fx pedals/racks ... |

Recorded a video about German Steinway D bright s "problems"
https://youtu.be/js9FkAn6enU
Looks like Korg sampled well-tuned but not well-prepared for recording grand piano? |
