|

Hello. Just purchased a Korg M3 and very much like the potential so far. For some reason though, I do not get a stereo signal when connecting the main L/R outs. The headphone jack and aux outs work fine though. I did a hard reset to no avail, and all of the cables are mono and in nice shape. Seems like an internal routing issue, though I can't seem to figure it out. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance! |

If the L/Mono Main out jack is used on its own, it carries a mono signal comprising a mixture of the L and R audio channels. How are the Main outputs connected in your system? If both outputs are in use, each should be connected to its own stereo channel. The jack in the R output needs to be fully inserted for the L/Mono out to only send the L channel audio.

Thanks for the reply. The main L and R outputs are run to mixer with their own separate channel. If I pan a track on the M3 or use any stereo effects, all comes out mono. If I route the signal to the aux 1 and 2, it works fine, as does the headphone out. |

The Right Main Out jack contains a switch contact that links L & R outputs together if no jack is inserted into the R jack socket. This switch is opened when a plug is fully inserted into the R jack socket. It may be that these contacts have been damaged so that they do not open as intended. Is it possible someone may have attempted a DIY repair that didn't go to plan?
Replacements may be available:

The part number is different from the original, but Parts is Parts lists it as suitable for the M3.

Thanks. That was my guess as all else works fine - just thought that there might be some secret menu dive that links/unlinks that channels that I couldn't find in the manual. I'll try spraying some contact cleaner in first to see if something frees up, else I'll replace the connector as you suggested. Thanks! |
