I asked michu how the repair happened. This is what they said:
I ordered part from korg (Parts is Parts) long time ago.
It was special order Part No 500320012346.
Korg FLASH (NOR) S29JL032H70TFI020D(X5260)
I replaced flash chip myself on Radias CPU board.
It required some practice in micro soldering and temp control.
Doable if you practice on a piece of old computer hardware.
I'll try to describe it on korg forum when find time for that. |

Something tells me the more recent packages from Cypress would be compatible, but it's nice parts is parts still has the original chip.
What I want to know is where the hell he got the files themselves, since Korg made it clear to me that they weren't handing them out. Was there any encryption? Does he still have them? |

Hi, I would like to confirm that part number 500320012346 was the solution to the checksum error. This is a replacement rom chip that apparently has already been flashed by the manufacturer.
I checked this forum back in the spring of this year, wondering if anyone had ever found a fix and saw the recent post calling out the rom part number.
To my surprise, I found one on ebay for $99. I decided to take a chance and buy it. After a couple of monthes, I found a local repair shop that said it was a basic repair and they could do it easily. However, I was told factory rom chips don't come flashed and they asked if I still wanted them to install it. I said "It doesn't work now so I don't have anything to loose (except like $120 for the repair and another $99 for the rom)".
After 10+ years my Radias works like new. I've had it in storage this whole time and often thought of throwing it in the trash. I'd like to thank everyone here for contributions to this thread because ultimately they led to this conclusion for me. Thank you. |
