I don't seem to be able to save the pattern name.
1. I have selected the project
2. I then select the step where the pattern will reside which lights up
3. I then use the second and third parameter knobs to change the characters in the pattern name

From this point there doesn't seem to be an option to save the pattern name at this stage. There is just an option to copy.
Is it the case that there needs to be something in the pattern before it can be saved? Having used a keyboard to enter some information that does not seem to be the case.

Such a simple task but not mentioned in the manual

Apparently I discovered after pressing the Pattern mode button and selecting a step to store the pattern :
1. You dial the first param knob to copy
2. The screen will read Init Pattern
3. use the second Param knob to dial in the text to the desired Character
4. Use the third Param knob to move to the next character space
5. When the name is completely entered Press the active pattern button where the pattern is stored.
6. Here is where the confusion starts : It asks you if you want to copy the pattern? No I dont want to copy the pattern I want to save the name
7. However selecting 1. "Yes" does save the name. Selecting 4. cancels the operation.
