Why would you make a 73 C-C version instead of an E-E version?

I just dont understand that desigen, could anyone explain to me why he would want a C-C 73 keys keyboard?

The Korg M3 has a C-C 73 note. Some people much prefer the layout as it lends itself better to piano music especially when using octave +/- (which is now on the Nautilus).

Honestly, the 73-note "standard" came into existence largely from the Rhodes piano, and Rhodes shortened the keyboard because of practical limitations of the tine.

I believe the 73keys version would be the best choice for arranger keyboards and 76keys for synth workstations.

Well, after having the 73 Nautilus up in the studio across from my 76 Oasys; I would say that having a keyboard 73note that is set from C to C poses no real disadvantage from my perspective.

What is amazing is the quality of the acoustic piano samples used in the Nautilus verses those in the Oasys. Of course the samples are close to 15 years more advanced. Also the keybed in the Nautilus feels real good to me when playing. I think I will keep the Oasys up in the studio for access to its Karma capabilities; which I like. That said, I am looking forward to diving into the arpeggiators and scene setups in the Nautilus as well. Cool

Personally, I don't understand why Korg is doing 73 keys when it seems like other companies are doing 76. My Korg 01/W Pro was a 76 key. It was E-G. I was pleasantly surprised when I bought the M3-73 that it was C-C. I'm disappointed that my Kronos 73 is E-E.

In my years playing the 01 and the K73, I am constantly wishing I had more lower notes. I almost never reach for higher notes that aren't there.

It seems that when Korg does a non-weighted, synth type keybed, they go C-C, which is basically a 61 key with one more octave. When they go with a weighted keybed, then they go E-E.
