No. MP3 and PCG are completely different formats. MP3 files contain compressed audio data, whilst PCG files basically contain settings data for Programs, Combis and Globals e.g. for Programs, the PCG data specifies which samples to use, the various Program parameters to be applied, including the effects chain and its settings.

If you wish to be able to play sounds on the keyboard that are contained in an MP3, then it will have to be sampled, either as direct audio in or from a .WAV file. The Pad Sampler section of the Kross Operation Guide details the necessary steps.

+1

I will add that the above applies if the OP is asking for the Kross 2 synthesizer. If the OP has a Kross 1, then the easy answer is 'No'. There are no officially sanctioned utilities for adding samples to the Kross 1 that I am aware of. There are some users who have updated some of the samples on the Kross 1, but I hear that it is a difficult process and one does not always get good results. Korg officially do not have anything that facilitates adding samples to the Kross 1 synthesizer.

Grace,
Harry
