I made a couple of Kross synth tutorials attempting to recreate the analog synth sounds from Cars by Gary Numan. Enjoy!

Hi Eric. I just watched the vids. Very cool. I've been watching vids about sound design for the Krome, Kross, and soft synths, and just applying it to whatever board I have. I've made the sync lead sounds for The Cars ' Hello Again ' and Pink Floyd's 'Run' along with Tom Sawyer sweep and others on my MOXF. Then I got my Triton Extreme and am in the process of emulating them on that, which is now my favorite keyboard/synth/sampler of all time. I've also been able to emulate a few sounds from Ensoniq VFX I used to have. Sorry, I'm blabbing again as I drink my energy drink. I'm going in my room now to create the sounds your vids just showed me. Anyway, thanks again for sharing.

Cool! thanks for the feedback. The Triton Extreme is a vintage board, am I right?

Yeah, the Extreme is from 2000-2004 I think. So if 18 years old is vintage, then yes. It still has better orchestral sounds than my Yamaha MOXF which is why I'm selling my Yamaha and keeping the triton. I made those sounds from gary numan's cars based on your vids and they sound great. My next sounds are gonna be from Talk Talk's song It's my Life.

Well done - I tried these steps with minimal modification on my triton extreme - sounded really good. The pitch LFOs and the Random pitch setting do reproduce well the sometimes drifty VCOs of analog synths.

On the Kross in Mono mode you also have available the Unison setting, with detune, and a Thickness parameter. You could try using those to emulate a really fat analog sound.

Very Happy These vids were brilliant and helped me break into programming my new Kross 2. They are informative and just a little bit of dry humour.
You got me with "Drink some coffee, Chill Out, do some Korg Kross Programming, What's wrong with that?"
