I have a file with 388k of content but for some reason it's blank and I can't open it up. It's smaller than a folder, more like a blank square (with a little fold in the top right corner) but how do I open it and access the stuff?

Thanks.

That sounds like an undefined DOS file. If so, it's likely the M50 can't open it, or doesn't know what to do with it. It may well be a system file so may be best left alone. Usable DOS files are MIDI files with a .MID extension, and SysEx files with an .EXL extension.

Thanks for the info. There is no file extension of any kind. When I try to load it to an open track it says 'illegal SMF data'. Any thoughts of what that means and if that is the dead end?

It means that the file does not contain SMF (Standard MIDI File) data so it must be something else, and is not recognised by the M50 OS in the sequencer context.
