Revamping my home studio and just dusted off my old Korg Wavestation EX. I am picking up a battery warning and I seem to have only partial waveforms available. The manual suggests having a service center replace the battery and am wondering if this can be accomplished at home. Also, what is the possibility of retrieving the old data? Appreciate any suggestions. _________________ http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=807494

The battery can be replaced relatively easily, if you're familiar with repairing electronic gear.
The sounds can be reloaded via SysEx, using something like MIDI-Ox and a suitable MIDI interface. The relevant data files can be downloaded from here:

For the EX, the Factory file will be necessary, and possibly also the EX_RAM3 file for the external RAM card, if that has to have its battery replaced.
