I place Combi A12 into the sequencer and record just fine. I want to add a new track. I disable multi-record, assign a program to the next empty track, in this case track seven, make sure I’m recording that track. When I arm the sequencer I see “rec” as I’d expect on the track, but I play and get no sound.
I assume I’m missing something and I’d appreciate suggestions.

Check the MIDI channel assignment for the new track. The timbre will only respond to MIDI messages on that channel. For the timbre to respond to the keyboard, set it to MIDI channel 01.

Thanks, but there are three timbres already assigned to channel 1. I figured it out, however. Went to track parameters and assigned a new channel to the new parameter.

Which MIDI channel did you assign to make the new timbre sound?

All 16 timbres could be assigned to the same MIDI channel. The only problem with that is polyphony limits could be reached with just a couple of played notes, depending on the timbres used.

Thanks for your help. I assigned the new timbre to an unused channel. What I don’t understand is when I tried to assign it to MIDI 1 and press record, the three timbres already assigned channel 1 in the combination light up with “record” and I couldn’t record the new one with that channel assignment.

Is the status for the new timbre set to INT in the MIDI settings page?
