I was considering maybe buying the soon to be released i3 to add to my keyboard collection .....seems like a nice basic workstation/arranger option and easy to use like my EK50 which I really like.

Just discovered a bit of a deal breaker for my personal use .....

I see it will be impossible to transpose 'on the fly' as there are no dedicated button controls to do do this, Well, unless you use the shift option ( which is a 2 handed job ) I suppose it would be possible to save to set and change that way, if in fact save transpose is a 'saveable' option.

On EK the main control is transpose with the secondary shift option of the same buttons being octave, On the new i3, this is reversed for some reason ....maybe because its more a workstation ....i am not sure

Seems odd it would be revered, but according to page 14 of the manual, you are right. By default they act as Octave buttons.

The manual seems very short so it maybe missing information on other options such as it maybe possible to assign it to a pedal. Might be best to contact KORG support and ask them.

Regards
Sharp.

Yes Sharp - I might send them a mail ....thanks.

It cant be rocket science to get this done with a firmware tweak and maybe make it a 'toggle' option using the 2 buttons, so users could have it assigned as they wish for the basic option for on the fly use.

I use transpose ALL the time and it is so important to me and i imagine I am not alone on thiis .... I just would not consider the i3 if this was not an option ......Pity, as it seems to be a great little board looking at the specs. and such a great price point at little over £400 in the UK.

I am considering the I3 as well as the new bottom keyboard for my live rig in the band(s). I am considering the D1 or the XE20 possibly as well, but the I3 intrigues me. I do not use the Transpose buttons terribly often, myself. I do use the Octave buttons though on my PA700 and have configured my M50 to do octaves as well for different songs in the band.

Grace,
Harry
