F&^King arm on studio chair got caught as I turned around and it's broken the underneath of a key. Not bad enough to hinder playing, but bad enough to royally affect my OCD-induced rage.

Any suggestions where I can key a replacement? Ideally UK-based.

Original K61. A-key.

Thanks Sad

Dan

Thanks Smile

FWIW, I've not beaten myself up (my tirade above is merely a scolding rather than full-on BootCamp Sargent Major!! Very Happy )

The annoyance comes from this machine being one of the first in the UK and surviving the whole keybedgate/boot issues etc.
It's been gigged, and played in many world-famous studios without a hint of damage or a scratch.
Only to be wounded in the safe-haven of my own studio!!! Very Happy

Not found much info on it, so I'm assuming that as a standard K61 key, it's the same as Triton/Oasys/X5 etc..... standard Korg plastic key?

I’m pretty sure we have a Fatar keybed in our Kronos. Parts are available here in the US. Fatar is an Italian company, you should be able to find your part somewhere in the UK.

Getting the part is one thing. Putting it in is another. Might want to look for a shop manual. Disassembly could be tedious, if not tricky.

From what I've read, replacing a key on a Kronos 61 doesn't require much, if any, disassembly.
http://forums.musicplayer.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/2783212/Korg_Kronos_broken_keys_repair

From that thread:
Quote:
on the Kronos 61, you don't need to take anything apart to replace a key. Just press down (reasonably hard) at the end of the key closest to the pivot point to push the spring down and slide it forward and out. Installation the new key is just the reverse. If it's a black key, you need to remove the two surrounding white keys first.

I'm certain that this will not be applicable to the Kronos 73 or 88, but I've replaced numerous scratched keys on my Kronos 61 using this method.

f you require spare parts for your Kronos or other Korg devices and a few other brands mentioned there too (use their brand drop down to see them, too many to list here).

The Spares request form is here (Request the parts here and they will give you the correct part codes to use on the main Korg Spares site) :-

https://www.korguk.com/resources/forms/parts_request_form.php

Also the site is here for the spares (Korg Spares) :-

https://ip.korguk.com/korg_spares/kd/default.aspx

This is for UK People only from what I understand but it does list other countries on their forms so they may send to other countries too that are listed.

I must confess and profusely apologise - I thought I'd come back to this thread and THANKED you all for your contributions.

I've just had another key break (the ends appear VERY flimsy), and returned to the forum.
Much to my horror, I found my thread and realised my RUDE error.

So my THANKS and apologies again.
