Hello,

I have a simple combi in which I have a piano and a pad. Sometimes, I only want to hear the piano, in which case I (successfully) am able to mute the pad with one of the switches. However, when I hit the switch, an adverse effect occurs on the piano part which does its chorus effect. I tried disabling SW1 on the MIDI filter menu and it still makes the sound. I even tried setting the switch to "Off" in the program itself, and it still makes the sound. Does anyone know what I'm missing? Thanks.

Hi,

The switch settings that you find in the program (page p-input/ctrl) are ignored at the moment that the program is inserted in a combi. They are overruled by the settings in the combi page c-input/ctrl). So modifying the settings in the program has no effect.

So what are the settings in the c-input/ctrl page?

What effects do you use in your combi and are they controlled by the switch somehow?

Bye

Hello! I'M a newbe here. I have a kross2 since one year now and I'm very happy with.I've been blocking on this problem for quite some time and I'm taking advantage of this subject to ask you HOW to use the switches in combis.
Some of preset combis use the switches to hear or mute a sound...So my question is how to do it?
Maybe the question was already asked, if yes, sorry for that.
Please forgive my bad english...I'm french you know... Very Happy

Hi,

The muting of an instrument is done via a trick. Basically timbres are routed to insert effects that are switched between dry (sound) and wet (no sound)

I'll give an example:
* timbre 1: piano
* timbre 2: banjo
* SW1 is set up in SW1 Mod (CC#80), toggle mode - We will use switch 1 to toggle between the piano and the banjo.
* In the insert effect section, timbre 1 is routed to IFX1, timbre 2 is routed to IFX2
* Choose for both IFX1 and IFX2 e.g. the Stereo Graphic 7-Band EQ.
* Set the trim value of both IFX to 0! This means in fact that no signal is inserted into the effect itself or that the wet signal is going to be silent.
* On IFX1
- set Wet/Dry ratio to Dry -> The piano will sound
- set Wet/Dry modulation source to SW1.
- set the Wet/Dry amount to +100.
=> When switch 1 is pushed, IFX1 will go from dry (piano sound) to wet (no piano sound)
* On IFX2
- set Wet/Dry ratio to Wet -> There will be no sound
- set Wet/Dry modulation source to SW1.
- set the Wet/Dry amount to -100.
=> When switch 1 is pushed, IFX2 will go from to wet (no banjo sound) to dry (banjo sound)

That will do it. As said, it is a trick:
* Of course the switching is quite abrupt and will cut off sounds.
* It also costs you insert effects. Note that nothing prevents you to route different timbres into 1 of the effects. So you don't need an effect per timbre that you want to mute/unmute.
* Although a timbre is muted, it will still cost you voices. Though the Kross has quite a number of them.

Have fun!
