Hello.
Where will I buy the master volume potentiometer for the Pa4x ?
What is his symbol? At some point, it grows stronger.
Sorry for my English. |

Just confirming - you want to get a new potentiometer for the master volume?

second time i hear someone having problems with volume/balance pontesiometers.
Recently i was in Athens and i managed to get 2 pieces for a friend who also had problems.
The spare parts were from Croatia actually, and costed about 19euro each. _________________

Me too I have problem with Master Volume knob.
I am not sure if this is the same problem as 1bobkins.
When I raise a little bit the Master Volume from 0 it goes to maximum volume.
Not sure but this may be a result of dirt or dust built up on the potentiometer. |

Maybe, due to excessive using, the carbon-layer is damaged.
Dust doesn´t seem to be a problem.
BTW: How often do you use the volume-knob ?
I have my PA4X more than 3 years now, maybe I used the knob 20 times...
For home use set the level once and leave it...
For on-stage-use once adjust the output-level to the mixer and leave it... ( increasing volume sould be done with the mixer then... )
BTT : In case you can´t get the exact values you´ll have to open the case and extract the potentiometer. Usually the values are printed on it. If not you can measure the value...
Any better electronic-market should sell such potentiometers for a few € / $ _________________ Greetings from East-Frisia, Germany

Two things can be important contributors to unreliable main volume knobs...
First is dust and dirt. Unless your arranger is in a sterile clean room, dust and airborne dirt ARE going to settle. If anyone smokes in the room, tar will settle on every exposed surface and make it stick even stronger. Eventually, there's a good chance that that dust and dirt finds its way to the potentiometer wipers, and you now have a crackly or jumpy knob. This is exacerbated by keyboards that use fans to suck air inside the case to cool componentry, allowing the dust and tars to settle in places you might not think it can get to.
A plastic (not cloth!) cover is a huge help here. Prevent any dust settling during the majority of time you aren't playing the instrument reduces the odds of problems by orders of magnitude. Get a custom made, fitted to the instrument type. The tighter and closer the fit, the less dust will get to the panel and jacks.
Next is a case. Make sure you use one for transportation, and make sure the instrument does not flop around inside it! You would be amazed how many cases fit well side to side, but the lid doesn't prevent the keyboard flopping around as you carry it. Should the master volume knob (or any knobs and sliders) contact the case or bump against the hard padding or even worse, the case itself, wear will occur to them. Make sure there is custom padding fitted to hold the keyboard securely, and that padding is only on parts of the keyboard with no knobs and sliders (the end caps is the best place for this).
Lastly, yes, you remember to clean your keyboard from time to time. You vacuum off the surface, wipe with approved cloths and cleaners, don't you?But how often do you clean the inside of your case? It's defeating the point to clean the keyboard and then put it in a dusty, dirty case! Vacuum out and clean out your case as often as you do the keyboard...
Take the above advice, and the odds of a knob or slider problem go down a LOT.
Last piece of advice... keep an eye on availability of spare parts. Especially if you tend to keep keyboards for a decade or more before you upgrade. If you see or hear that spares are becoming harder to find, it doesn't hurt to buy a few for the critical components (main volume, sliders, start/stop knobs) just in case..! |

I gig with my Pa4X three or four times per week in different locations and some practicing at home.
So I cannot say exactly how many times I use the volume knob. |

But do you tend to use the exact same spot on the knob every time you play?
Maybe you can avoid the bad spot (until you get it replaced) by moving to a bit less volume or a bit more (out of the jumpy zone!) and then adjust at the mixer to compensate. |

People. For all time i use expresion pedal Korg Exp2 and I also have a problem with master volume pot. Until now I have changed to my old Korg keyboards and they were always 2x10K. I open my Pa4x keyboard and i try to clean the pot with contact spray for pots but this is imposible because it is closed on all sides.
Looks like this model RK09D1130C2P (see the picture there is 3 pins, the original is with 4 -5? pins) but it is mono and only 1x10K. If somebady changed this pot, please tell as from where to order it. Thx. _________________ Korg X3

Anyway,it cost less than 10$ ,but i advice you to change both Volume and Balance knobs,as you will notice after some months Balance knob will not respond well as before, and sooner or later you will have to change that too. _________________
