Hi, is there a possibility to install a third SSD into the Kronos X?

'cause I have an unused 60 GB SSD. It's only a question, but not necessary.

ok, I get it.

You already have 2 SSD's in use inside your K.

The OS recognizes both SSD's. OS also recognizes a USB stick.

The question is whether the OS will recognize an additional storage medium, assuming there are enough SATA connections and there is some way to mount your 3rd SSD inside, securely.

There are only two SATA ports on the Kronos motherboard, so no possibility for a third SSD.

YEs, it's easy to do with a SATA to USB adapter (here is one : USB 3.0 to SATA Adapter, BENFEI USB to SSD Adapter)

Then, you just have to connect it to one of the Kronos USB input.

that adapter is a good point.

Kronos OS " should " recognize that tool as an SSD drive.
I think we need to test this.

As we know, SSD drives and thumb drives are quite different.

I would guess the SSD is going to demand power, correct ? And what about streaming thru that USB port to a 3rd SATA drive ?

It would be a good experiment to test the function

Yes !
I dedicated my old Stardom iTank i310 with 1TB SSD to Kronos.
I have no numbers (benchmarks) to confirm it, but it's faster than a thumb drive. So everyone should get an adapter or external HDD/SSD enclosure.

FTP is another good solution. However an adapter or enclosure is more practical, no need to turn PC/Mac on. I actually have synchronised my iTank with a Mac, so there are always two copies.

Hello Greg,

In case of lack of power, there are some adapter provided with external power supply : UGREEN SATA to USB Cable USB 3.0 to Hard Drive Adapter

I also had some concern that Kronos was USB 2. And that the Adapter was USB 3.0. And a question whether that posed a performance or streaming connectivity issue.

Oh, yes, sorry, I didn't answer that point : As you, I didn't try streaming through USB.

I will try it soon !

So, I did a try with my backup storage Hard Drive (not an SSD), USB connected.
No problem for playing sounds in virtual ram. It wasn't heavy sounds. So I will try with other heavier sounds.
But, for now, it's ok with an hard drive, so for sure with a SSD.

thats encouraging ! I am impressed that the USB "pipe' on Kronos can accommodate what you have done so far.

I think a 4 gig file to stream would be a good test Very Happy

Well, I've tried to load all the Preload.KSC in Virtual Memory mode (this is the only available mode, as the full KSC is 18 Go !!), from my backup hardisk and all works fine !
