|
|
Hi all Korg Friends,
I want to add a extra keyboard to my Korg PA4x to use as a lower manual. Can I use a muted keyboard controller that is usb powered. example M Audio 88 key MKII or a Swisssonic 61 keys. If not what do you recommend.
These 2 keyboard controllers have one midi out connection and one USB with a Volume control input
Thanks all |

please post in the section for Korg PA4x
quick ans to your question.
yes m-audio 88 key is a nice selection.
just do a keys split.
or do rack gear and midi switcher.
do the routing with the 5 pin midi.
usb on any key bed is for computer connection only. _________________ my site klimaco.net

I use my USB port to input my wind controller on RH2, and it works perfectly. This may not be the usual use, but sure is great for me. Not contradicting your statement, just curious.

Er, Bernie...
Didn't Korg make the USB class compliant a while back? I haven't tried, but I think I read about external class compliant MIDI hardware able to control PA's nowadays. Is the M-Audio 88 class compliant?
Mind you, you WILL need to find out how much USB current the keyboard pulls, and whether the PA can deliver it (some controllers with tons of lighted pads etc, need more juice than simple controllers) otherwise you'll need the controller's power supply plugged in... |

I know the Korg is Class Compliant and works fine with one MIDI input, but don't know about heavier gear like controller keyboards, with or without powered hubs.

Most of the bigger controllers have a wall wart input for power. No need for a hub... |
