Hi Everyone,

I use a Yamaha FC-5 as a assignable pedal with my Pa1000.
The assigned function is different for different songs. It could be for giving a "Break", " Fill In" or "Vocal Harmony".
It works fine in every mode.
However, when saving songs in my song list, the assignable pedal will perform as let the last assigned parameter and not as desired.
I did recheck if I saved the assigned parameter for the assignable pedal for a particular song, but it ends up working as per the last assigned function.

So is there a way I can save different assignable pedal settings for different songs?

Thanks,
GD

On my PA700, Assignable Pedal and Assignable Knobs are part of the global settings, and once set retain that selection until manually changed again via Global. I cannot find any way to record these settings in the Songbook, nor in a User style, so they can be changed automatically when a new Song/Style is selected.

The settings for the Assignable Switches (above the joystick) however are saved with a keyboard set, so you can change the assigned functions when you select a different keyboard set. There is some overlap between the functions provided by the pedal and the switches so you might be able to take advantage of this....

See section XI Controllers (starting on page 813 of the latest PA1000 manual) for detailed instructions.

Some of the functions you mention are also accessible via MIDI commands. You could hook up an external MIDI controller and program it to send the required commands when you press a pad or a pedal (depending on the particular controller you are using). You should be able to activate intros, variations, fills and break using this method, along with various other functions. See page 906 of the latest PA1000 manual for details of which MIDI messages to use for each function. I have successfully controlled my PA700 using this technique.

Hope this helps! Best wishes, Romney

HI Romney,

Thanks for a details reply.
The MIDI things you've mentioned are very interesting but unfortunately i have zero knowledge for the same.
May i request you to help me with some relevant links to read about the same.
And may be links to required midi pads/pedals which might serve the purpose.

Will be grateful.

Thanks.

My goodness, so much info here, this could be a sticky for the PA 700/1000 even though it's mostly for the PA4X.

Thanks Nemik.

I went through the FCB1010 video. The only thing which seems to be a concern is that this pedal requires a physical chip replacement on the circuit board for upgrading the firmware since it doesn't have a USB port.
Though it seems to be a reliable pedal for Korg keyboards.

You need Audio card with Midi IN/OUT to your computer.
FCB1010 is upgrading via MIDI port.

I use MIDI Commander software on an Android tablet. This allows you to set up multiple onscreen buttons which send MIDI commands when tapped. This might not be what you want in the long term, but would enable you to experiment to see what is possible (before you spend lots of money!) I'll try to put together some more information in a few days or so...

The FCB1010 is a very capable device (I'd quite like one myself!!), but I believe it can be rather tricky to program, especially if you are a complete novice.....

Also I'm not sure how necessary it is to upgrade the firmware. While it is always a good idea to be using the latest version, the device should work adequately well with the firmware version it already has loaded. More investigation is probably required!

Best wishes, Romney

I believe this information applies equally to PA700 and PA1000 as well as the PA4X. I've got a PA700, and have no access to a PA1000 or a PA4X either. As far as I can tell, all three instruments are similar (with additional features as you move up the range) and the MIDI implementation is very similar if not identical in all cases.

This is also documented in the Korg user manuals for each instrument. The manuals may be downloaded from https://www.korg.com/us/support/download/#

I believe all three instruments respond to the same basic MIDI control commands.....
