|
|
Dear all,
My Korg pa4x has suddenly developed a loud key - the A note above middle C.
Now of course, I’m listening for it every time I hit that note .... but it is markedly louder.
This keyboard has very light use only played at home by a 76 yr old learner.
Can anyone advise what I can do to fix this please?
Kind regards,
JohnMak |

You can't be sure if this is a broken key contact flex or just dust.
Try to turn it upside down once or more,or right an left and use compressed air to blow off dust, maybe this helps if it is just dust.
If you eat snacks during playing, that might be a big problem _________________

Hi Korg1
Many thanks for your suggestion. You may be onto something as we are 27 floors up and close to the ocean. My keyboard sits right next to the ranch slider doors and even though we are high up, a lot of dust does blow in in spite of my constant reminder to daughter and wife to keep the keyboard side of the sliding doors closed.
I will try your suggestions tonight.
As an aside, I had to chuckle at your comment about me eating snacks while playing. I dream of the day .... at the moment I have enough trouble just controlling my left and right hand. When I can multiskill well enough to play and eat (or sip a glass of red) at the same time I will be over the moon.
Sadly, I’m very much a learner ..... even at 76 yrs old.
Kind regards and many thanks,
Old JohnMak |

i believe it's just dust.
The worst senario is a broken key contact flex.
Usually contact flex breaks when :
Instrument is for a long period under sun (like your window)
and contacts get dry .
this might happen if you hit the keys too hard after the contacts are dry ,or if they break by themselves.
If it's a contact flex problem,i suggest you change the whole set of your keyboard. Just be careful,.cause there are some contact sets out in the market, which are identical with korg's original, but they will get destroyed even in a week,so be careful where you will get it. _________________
