Gone Not Forgotten is a dedication song, in memory about folks we once knew, now gone.
I composed and recorded all tracks, instruments on a Kronos. My final mix is hot- lots of bass and drums.
Gone Not Forgotten is a dark hybrid instrumental- cinematic, metal and electronica. It also is a hybrid of instruments, 2 bass guitars, 3 drum kits and 2 separate patterns, 2 six string guitars, piano, organ, strings etc
Its a retro, slow groove instrumental featuring piano and the
pedal steel guitar [ from Kronos].
The pedal steel program on the Kronos is a nice program- not easy
to find a decent pedal steel on a keyboard. I am 95% sure Motif/MODX does
not have it.

Thanks for the listen
Very good piece, Greg, congrats !
Thank you for checking it out !
Its interesting, when I released The Slow Lane a year ago, it got mild interest.
This time, folks are commenting on it, which is nice. I made a few improvements to it and which may have helped the listening experience. _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

Somewhat ironic, I went back and re-recorded the song. I added more Hammond, improved the intro, and instruments in the mix, etc etc.
I removed a verse and shortened DLB to 3:17. [ 3 minutes, 17 secs]. Shorter songs are better for most listeners. _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

I call this instrumental ' chill ' music. 100% Kronos.
Title is an exercise motto that promises greater value rewards for the price of hard and even painful work.
I believe it also applies to our life long music efforts.
I used several individually transposed keys/tracks to play 3 different string lines simultaneously with just my left hand.
Anyone else doing these kind of tricks to come close to the original without running any backing tracks?
What are your tricks for playing live?

Hi Mark,
Nice work there. I am glad to read what you mention : actually playing live. There are so many videos of keyboard players just pushing a few keys while rhythmic patterns and sequencers do all the rest. As you will probably agree, it is so much more satisfying and fun to play live. I have always preferred that (for example, in an live ELP tribute everything would be played by the trio, no sequencers). I have also done solo stuff (like tribute to Vangelis) where I don't have enough hands, so had no choice for certain pieces to use background tracks, but I always made sure to play as many parts as possible live and with several pieces without any accompaniment/sequencers.
Nowadays I also do quite a bit of classical solo stuff for the fun challenges and to stay in good shape musically. Finally, about recording multi-instrument pieces, I always record live playing the parts on the keys, so no sequenced drums or bass in a notation editor. I prefer hearing slight imperfections which sound human than a robotic sequence, except of course if it is needed, like for example a Kraftwerk style of piece.
Some months ago, a friend wanted to know what the Kronos could do, so I've quickly recorded a video to show the different engines, as if I would be a Korg rep (link below). It's all short excerpts, not very precise and with mistakes, but it shows how it is fun to play live on the great Kronos. I'm sure you enjoy your unit as much. Take care and keep up the good live playing.
A disco instrumental for dancers ! I am the composer of this retro song with a strong groove. All instruments and tracks created on the Korg Kronos keyboard,
Catch the dance fever and where is the glitter ball ?
