|
|
Having some problems with my PS60, been working perfectly up till last night now some of the keys have stopped working ie no sound and a couple produce a continuous tone. The sample tunes all play correctly on all voices, could it be i have hit a combination of buttons and sent an incorrect command into the system.
Would anyone recommend resetting to factory settings? |

Hopefully you've been backing up your settings occasionally.
IMO this sounds like a system fault rather than hardware (that continuous tone is one clue) so I'd guess that a restoration could maybe set it back in order. As to what caused it in the first place, I'm stumped. It doesn't sound like something that would happen randomly. Are you hooked to a computer system for any reason - something that could overwrite the system or send settings (sequencers send a reset packet at the front end of some sequences)?
If the reset doesn't fix it, my recommendation is take it in to a repair shop. It's just possible that this could be a hardware problem in the cables linking the keys to the sound engine. That being the case I'd expect a complete fail -- that sustained tone on some notes is not what I'd expect from a cabling problem.
One last thought. Any chance that your girlfriend/roommate/mom spilled/sprayed/sneezed something into the works? Some cleaning solutions tear up electronics while making your keys shiny, and Diet Coke doesn't leave sticky sugar telltales when it dries but could leave considerable gunk on key contacts.

Its never been connected to any computer and as I do not use any special settings as yet have no need to back up. Its always covered up when not in use too and has never had any liquid based cleaners on it, or any drink any where near it.
Going to try a re set and see how I get on if that fails then its going back on Warranty as this has only had very light use in the few months I've had it.
Thanks for your input. |

Sounds like you've got a good plan - especially given that it's under warrantee.
Good luck.

Hey Adywood, did you get this fixed in the end? I have exactly the same problem but my warranty ran out ages ago and restoring to factory settings didn't fix the problem... |
