|
|
Hi,
I have made a MOD7 + AL1 patch with the amazing vector envelope function running: the vector position goes automatically from points 1, 2, & 3 forward and backward, it modulates some MOD 7 parameters (feedback, pitch, and some envelopes time and levels), and AL1 parameters also (filters cutoff and resonance, PWM parameters...).
When I play the patch alone with no Drumtrack activated, everything is running as expected: I can distinctly ear the envelope going from one point to another in a cycled way.
I decided to add a drum track, and here's what happens: the Vector Joystick still works when I move it physically, but the envelope does not run anymore: the envelope is frozen.
When I stop the drum track keeping my fingers on the keys, the sound is still frozen. I need to strike again a key to bring my envelope back to life.
I am running a Kronos 73 with OS 3.0.2 installed. Can anybody else try this? I can leave a PCG with the patch available if somebody wants to investigate this point. |

Sure, I could take a look if you want. I wouldn't be until tonight sometime, but I'll see if there's something obvious tripping the ENV up.
Toss your patch up on Dropbox or something, or PM me and I'll give you my email address. _________________ Korg Kronos 88 2, Korg Kronos 73, Kurzweil K2600S

Okay, I think I have it figured out.
When looking at the program, any time you use a chromatic-based drum sound, the vectoring stops working. When you use a drum kit that isn't a chromatic drum, the vectoring works just fine.
If I were you, I would try and create a drum program that uses the samples from the Analog Tom kit you were using, and make it as a regular drum program instead of some GM kit.
Check it out though - Under Basic/Vector tab, tap on "Drum Track" and change the Drum Track Parameters from "Analog Tom" to something like "Rute Pitch Up Kit" and you'll notice it works just fine.
Choose any chromatic drum, the vectoring stops. I think it's honestly just a fault in the system where chromatic instruments aren't "intended" to be a drum track, and therefore because they're running a different engine (Sampling engine instead of the Drum engine let's say) for some reason the vectoring gets taken over by the chromatic drum instrument.
Yes, they're both TECHNICALLY using the HD-1 Engine, but something is giving control of the vector clock to the chromatic drums instead.
You might be able to pull it off in Combi mode without issue, but that's what I was able to figure out. Hopefully this helps though! _________________ Korg Kronos 88 2, Korg Kronos 73, Kurzweil K2600S

Hi, enigmahak,
Thank you for having listened to my patch. I followed what you said, and had the same result. I first thought you identified what the problem was. So I decided to change my drum kit, picking one of the "real" drumkits available. And I have to say this is a little bit tricky than I first thought.
I found a configuration where, with the same Drumkit, some pattern make the envelope work, while some others don't.
An example, with the same patch: select the drum kit U-A033 (Mad Analog Kit). This one should work whatever pattern you choose.
Select the Pattern P582. Depending on the moment you strike the key, sometimes the vector envelope begins to run and stop, sometime it does not work at all.
I think I have found a little tricky bug...
Again, thanks for helping |

Something this specific and reproducible should be reported to Korg. Try mailing Dan with specific steps to reproduce! And thanks for taking the time to figure this out and report it here. |

I have sent a message to Dan. Hope he will find some time to investigate...
Thank you all. |

I have created a TB303 style patch based on the same principle (Vector envelope + Drumtrack). Vector envelope make a morphing between different filter settings.
This one works perfectly...Don't know why...
I'd be curious that a OS 2 Kronos user download my first patch, just to make sure there is no relation with OS 3... _________________ New Timelapse Kronos soundset:

This reminder for those who want to investigate with me
I have sent an Email to Danatkorg, with no success at the moment. If somebody can test the strange behavior.
My patch can be download in my second message, in this topic. _________________ New Timelapse Kronos soundset:
