With the success of Kung Fury, we started to seek out some old film scores from 80s-90s action films and tried to identify the synths used. David Michael Frank's scores were among those we liked a lot, and were surprised to recognize unmodified Wavestation presets used in Street Knight. However, we were unable to recognize the sound used here. A fun "water drops"-like sound that often also has Wavestation-like "clangs" when it appears elsewhere. Does that sound familiar to anyone? Is it from a Korg?
The film is certainly no masterpiece (unless compared to current films) and it was a rushed production so Frank used a lot of presets. The fight scene that follows that scene is composed with a "Midnight Run" preset from Wavestation, with just a few drums added so we were wondering if that other sound might also be made with a preset of a synth. It didn't sound familiar to any of us, but it has a quite unique sound that we haven't been able to properly replicate. |

Sounds very much Wavestation-esque. Could be a custom patch.
