Hello fellow Kronos users,

Since Korg is busy with the recreation of legendary synthesizers, I thought I can help. Not an analog, but a digital one: the Wavestation, reloaded into Kronos. (I do hope, no one is complaining that it is not truly digital sounding, because it really is....'Very Happy'

The sound package contains complete ROM, RAM1, RAM2 and RAM3 (from WS SR):
    200 Combinations,
    256 Programs,
    128 wavesequences.

Here is the introduction video. (I promise the remake of the Wavestation is far better than the remake of the advertising video...Wink)

Sounds interesting. Exactly the same question I asked myself.

If this is a recreation using onboard waves and no samples, I'd expect this bank to sell extremely well.

No, it is not sampled. The Kronos has all the Wavestation waves. I used them to create the wavesequences, patches and performances of the wavestation. There are some differences, because the filter and effects are not the same. But I think it is close enough.

This is actually pretty exciting for me. I have been toying with the idea of getting a Wavestation because once one owns a Kronos, there's not a lot of other synths needed for the usual stuff, and it leaves one open to experimenting with the esoteric stuff like the Wavestation.

I'll be interested to see how this develops.

looking forward to this, i can imagine how much work it was converting every parameter to the kronos. I really like the fact that you did it with the internal wave rom library instead of just simply sampling the wavestation presets.

great work (also a nice video!)

Thanks for the positive responses. It was a lot of work indeed but a lot of fun too.

I made a comparison between the Wavestation and Kronos. Most of it is described in a former post (see Tips: Using Kronos as a Wavestation, http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=89195&highlight=wavestation). Also I measured the timing of the envelopes of the Wavestation vs. the Kronos to get the timing as exact as can be.

Concerning the question "are you setting up your combis on the 73 Kronos ?": not sure what you mean. Yes, I use a 73 Kronos, but it will work on 88 as well, since it is not a sample library. The splits are exactly the same as on the Wavestation.

Currently I am reviewing the first performances I created. When that is ready, the package will be available.

Congratulations! I hope your launch is successful and after watching your video, I have reason to believe that it will.

I really loved the Wavestation and can't wait to put one into my Kronos (when it arrives)!

@Sharp: I have no plans selling it (though a small contribution for my hobby would always be welcome Wink). I am just a happy Kronos user and not a company. May be the video caused that impression. I am sorry for that. I just liked to do some sort of remake of the old Korg promotion movie.

Anyway, I have sent the whole package to danatkorg for a review, since he is an authority on both the Kronos and the Wavestation. As soon as the package is ready and available, I will let it be known.

Very cool, Postman!

Sharp, I was actually wondering about that - it is possibly a little confusing right now what the rules are for 3rd party developers. There's a set in that thread but it's near the bottom of the first page and you speak of a draft - maybe it would be good to have a new sticky with the definitive rules and just lock it right away? Or maybe there is one and I just haven't been able to find it?
