i just went thru this with my year old Kronos 61 that i have babied to the max.

i checked for loose RAM, loose red SATA cables, changed battery..still had problem.

took it to local Korg service center and it was the power supply. many have posted here about "System startup failed, please disconnect any USB device"
but it looks like no one particular culprit can be nailed down.

A couple of people above have mentioned "during shutdown". What does this mean? I just switch mine off.

shut down. switch off. power down.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. As it turned out, the 1GB stick of RAM I had put in several years ago went bad, causing the entire issue. Removed the RAM I added and all is well. Order a new 1GB stick.
