Looks like a capacitive touch screen, which would be much better.
The big feature though, is patch editing when in combi or sequencer mode. That's my biggest gripe at the minute.
Can't afford an upgrade though.
If only Korg would offer an upgrade path for my current machine... |

"Version 3" and the fact that the new model is not called "Kronos 2" probably means it is a free upgrade.
So much for being discontinued! OASYS and Kronos are my favorite music makers. Glad to see this amazing synth system evolving. Some new items, at a glance:
Version 3.0 (I'm guessing this will apply to all Kronos models)
Wood panels, instead of a number "2." Nice.
New included soundsets:
EXs 17 SGX-2 Berlin D piano piano, up to 12 velocity zones.
Una Corda Sample Support (soft pedal samples)
EXs 18 Korg Collections (interesting)
Touch and Drag screen function.
SET LIST offers a slew of colors (buttons) and text sizes.
Quick IFX drum routing. (handy!)
"EDIT PROGRAM" has been added to the Sequencer (and I'm guessing Combi) dropdown menu, as Purusha mentioned!
I'll have to check out all the new Korg video manuals, tomorrow!

With the discontinued parts from the previous generation it was only a matter of time.
Ive been waiting for this to happen, I think I will pick one up this next year. _________________ 2xds-10, ds10+, m01 |

Just to be clear, there were no discontinued parts; it was simply a misunderstanding, as noted in other threads.

Global transpose? If it's only in Setlist mode, I find that useless. Needs to be in Program and Combi modes as well...
Other than that, seems like some usability issues were taken care of, which is very nice (slanted panel, for starters). Color-coding in setlist mode - very useful.
Editing programs from combi mode - Dan, can you confirm if this is editing the program directly, or editing a COPY of the program encapsulated within the combi (so, essentially editing the resulting combi)?
No piano roll for sequencer, I sense people might be pretty angry about that again, since it was among the top requested features...
Still only 4 GB of RAM is max? Still that stupid limitation on HD-1 vs EXi banks? :/

yikes...new toy
I wonder if this would be compatible with "the old" Kronos saved programs, combies etc. If they have changed a lot in the OS it might not be compatible. If compatible can u transfer your purchased EX. soundset on the "new" Kronos?
And what about Karma...same version? I miss sync between drumtrack and karma and a more tidy menu on all the karma generated patterns. Now its just a mess and very difficult to know what to look for.
Since i live in Norway this wouldnt arrive until late next year so ill have plenty of time selling my "old" kronos (easy part) and convincing my wife (hard part) |

I was thinking about the issue of the Intel Motherboard and the likelihood of Intel discontinuing them.
I'm guessing that since it's effectively a reference design, it would be very easy for Korg to produce their own clone, possibly with tweaks and improvements of their own. Bearing in mind that Korg are in the business of making custom boards themselves anyhow.
Even if the board itself can't be bought from Intel, the design should be open to OEMs. |

I see there are now selections for showing 4, 8 or 16 set list slots per display. This looks quite interesting, anybody see a screen shot of 4 or 8 slots per display?
Also I see only 3 lines of description text for a set list slot. Currently I based all my text on 4 lines and people might use a lot of text which will not fit anymore. Anybody knows more about selecting font size or number of visible lines? _________________

I think someone mentioned that you can't transfer purchased EXs from one Kronos to another, even if you own both. Hopefully we'll get a free upgrade to OS 3, and it won't be an issue for most people. I noticed DanfromKorg has been on this thread, and he didn't mention anything either way which kind of worries me. _________________ Jim
