I keep eyeing the DSI Tempst but it is also expensive and I find myself coming back to look at the volca beats. But if you have the cash the tempest sure looks fun! |

I had the Electribe (ES-1, the old-ass sampler unit) long before I got the Volca Beats.
And I still use it, and I love it because hands down, this is the most versatile "drum machine" there is - as long as I feed it with great samples, it will always sound kick ass.
BUT it could use a little more punch in the low end, which is where the Volca Beats come in - that sine-kick is just, wow. ^^
and you can get both for under 300 Euros. I actually got my ES-1 for 100 Euros and the Beats for street price, which is/was 130 Euros.
Hard to beat that. |

I recommend you check out the Electribe EMX. Very cool box, which is capable of some very interesting stuff, provided you put in some time tewaking it. |

Well....i have a few options.....tempest/ elecktron and electribe emx or esx...I really do not need any synth sound onboard just drums to get beats made..so i would like a unit with tons of drum sounds and the ability to tweek and save and even load new sounds....but i dont need the synth sounds in the machine. |

well, out of your options... which I personally find a bit wide of range, in terms of price ^^
I think I would go for either elektron oder the ESX. elektron if I had a lot of money and ESX if I had less |

if you really don´t need any additional synth voices, then go for the ESX (the sampler).
The EMX has synth capabilities and a ton of onboard sounds, but -as far as I know- cannot really load any custom samples.
I strongly advise you to search for both boxes on YouTube, and watch a couple of videos to compare. |
