|

I know someone already posted something about this, but my microstation won't initialize at all. I've tried holding the 08 function and play/mute buttons when starting it up, but nothing happens. Is there any other way to get it to work? |

I assume the mS System Firmware (OS) is already updated to V1.01 that will showup at startup LCD.
Quote: |
1) Power Off mS (at least 30secs OFF before next ON), disconnect all cables except DC 9V power to mS (eventually unplug the wall wart AC adapter first) and no sd card in slot.
2)microSTATION_OG_E2.pdf manual page 11:
If this occurs, proceed as follows to initialize the
microSTATION’s internal memory.
1. Power‐off the microSTATION (wait 30secs).
2. While holding down the PLAY/MUTE button
and the function 08 button, turn on the microSTATION.
The microSTATION will be initialized, and
internal memory will be written. The display
will indicate “Initializing...” during this time.
After initializing, you’ll need to load the preload
data. For details, refer to (“Loading the
preloaded data”p.63).
Note: Initialization will require approximately 30
seconds to be completed.
3) Still not Initializing?, then reload the factory PRELOAD.PCG from the CD-ROM (software reset) see microSTATION_OG_E2.pdf manual page 63.
This will overwrite/reset any previously PCG changes/eventually errors.
Goto 1) Do the Initialization procedure.
4) Still not Initializing? Try testing out the mS Firmware Update mode.
See microSTATION_Updater_101_E1.zip: Update_Win_E1.pdf:
2. Turn on the Power Switch of the microSTATION while holding the [LOCATE] and [REC] keys. This will put in "Version Up Mode".
This procedure is to test the Update Mode, so after 30 secs just turn off mS and Goto 1) Do the Initialization procedure.
5) Still not Initializing? repeatly few times step 3) or 4) with step 4) now actually connected to pc and do the update procedure, just for verifying the update process etc. Goto 1) Do the Initialization procedure.
6) Still not Initializing? Send for hardware Repair or use now 'as is' and use step 3) as the Software Initialization! |

Thank you. I just tried the steps found in the manual, but I can't load the preload file because I can't get past the start up screen which freezes at "TION KORG v1.0.1." Should I just send it in for a repair? |

Did mS work normally before the freeze?
Just still keep holding on the PLAY/MUTE button and the function 08 button after switch on mS and see how the mS react with the those still pressed in more than 1 minute etc.!
Is Step 4) working? otherwise just do few times step 1) and 4) and see if it boot correctly after, its just like a PC! |
