I don't think there is a step sequencer on the Volca Keys- just a loop sequencer? But my question is- how long can you make the patterns? Can you record long evolving sweeps etc as part of a pattern or are you stuck with a couple of four's? |

16steps. However, there are 8 memory banks so I guess in theory you could do 8 bars....though this might depend if you can copy from one bank to the next. |

Depends on what sequencer resolution you need. If you are happy with just 8th notes then you can get two bars. The reverse is true if you jack up the tempo you get just one beat but with 64ths resolution. The keys version can be chosen to be 1/2 or 1/4 time, so you can have a pattern 2 or 4 times longer over your beats and bass patterns, although with correspondingly less sequencer resolution with each setting. |

If you turn quantize off (flux on) and tempo low you can input many more than 16 notes per sequence, but the input timing is now manual. |
