Hi all,
Thanks to board members I was able to find a power converter (26.00US). I have plugged everything in and the buttons are lit. The i3 LIVES!
Nothing on the display.
No output through output>amp. As far as I know, the amp is fine.
No output through headphone jack>headphones.
There is no style card in the slot and beyond that, I don't know what information might be helpful in troubleshooting.
Again, thanks for any help.

Mike!!!
I hate to say it but I think you may have a bad one.
With no display or sound I would think that the i3 is damaged goods.
Did you get anything at all on the display after switching it on? Even a "bright" blank screen? or is it absolutely "OFF"?
Unfortunately there is no diskette-loadable OS for the i3 - there was only a physical chip upgrade which I installed on mine.
Please double and triple check that your new power transformer is providing the EXACT, required power specs for the i3.
Hope you get it sorted out - please let me know how you go.
Cheers

silmaril and All:
Did you turn the lcd contrast knob? It is by the output jacks.
Try to move the knob and see if the black in the lcd flickers...The backlight is likely faded and the capacitors on the backlight might have failed too.
There is a harness that connects the output board to the mainboard. That might be unplugged. Be careful if you open the back of the i3, as the motherboard is attached to the bottom case, not to the frame of the keyboard.
I forget if there is a LCD contrast on Global Page 0 (like the 01s) but you could try hit the global button, turn the dial, and see if the lcd changes.
I have a similar problem with an i3, please see my separate post.
Best,
Sam in NJ USA |
