I am on a Mac computer, attempting to connect the microstation to work with Ableton. I would like to be able to play the built in sounds from the keyboard with Ableton, but also use Ableton's built in sounds. I have a midi cable like this http://www.amazon.com/Hosa-Mid-310-Black-Midi-cable/dp/B000068NTZ/ref=sr_1_1?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1369085238&sr=1-1&keywords=midi+cable
and also have a usb cable to connect usb 2.0 to usb 3.0 on the computer. Additionally, I have a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 audio interface http://us.focusrite.com/usb-audio-interfaces/scarlett-2i4
Ableton would not recognize the microstation with the midi cable connected from the microstation to the audio interface, but did recognize it when I plugged the usb cable directly to the computer. Do I need to use the standard midi cable at all, and do I need more cables to be able to get the microstation to play its own sounds through Ableton? I've heard that I may need cables running from the microstation outputs to the interface, but I don't know which cables, and where to plug them into the interface.... I have four RCA outputs on the interface if that means anything. Thanks |
