It doesn't break anything. they pop right off and you can put them right back on if you don't like it. _________________ ::: Korg Kronos 88 ::: Alesis Fusion 8HD ::: Kurzweil PC361 ::: Roland V-Synth ::: DSI Prophet 12 ::: DSI OB-6 ::: Korg Prophecy ::: Moog Micromoog ::: Yamaha CP-30 ::: Alesis Andromeda ::: Moog Sub37 ::: Sequential Prophet 600 ::: Korg MS2000BR ::: GSI Burn :::

Ah ok. I totally agree about the paint job for the Kronos. Unlike the Fusion (where all the button labels are on a plastic panel), you would have to re-silk screen new button labels on everything after you repaint the chassis (besides needing to strip off the old button labels).
Although it would look kind of cool. I'm thinking that would be neater to build some nice wooden side panels. _________________ ::: Korg Kronos 88 ::: Alesis Fusion 8HD ::: Kurzweil PC361 ::: Roland V-Synth ::: DSI Prophet 12 ::: DSI OB-6 ::: Korg Prophecy ::: Moog Micromoog ::: Yamaha CP-30 ::: Alesis Andromeda ::: Moog Sub37 ::: Sequential Prophet 600 ::: Korg MS2000BR ::: GSI Burn :::

They look great and probably are very easy to use (for me I don't use the sliders that many, but I can others do). _________________

Pots is short for potentiometers. They rotate instead of slide. _________________ Plugged in: Fantom 8, Jupiter-X, Jupiter 80, System-8, JD-XA, V-Synth GTv2, FA-06, SE-02, JU-06A, TR-09, VT-4, Go:Livecast, Rubix44, Shure SM7b, Push2, Ableton 11 Suite, Sibelius, KRK Rokit 5, |

I pulled the Knobs/Sliders form my Motif to the Kronos and they feel great.
I'm looking to get the "Soft Touch" controls, which means they have a rubber like feel. I find they work better for tactile moves. Though sourcing the knobs can be a challenge. Many want a minimum order in the hundreds, others have the right look, but aren't soft touch or it's difficult to tell if they are by the description. The last part is they are either so bland and industrial that they're ugly, and on the other end they're wild laser bright colors that while effective would look a little out of place. Oh and lastly the price varies from pennies to $20/PER knob!
Anyone found some great sources for these? _________________ Korg: KRONOS 73, M50-61, 01W/r

|
|
The longer slider knobs block significantly more of the control slots. This seemingly minor change may cause the Kronos internal temperature to run higher, since the slots allow ventilation egress from the internal cooling fan. Without measurement of internal component temperatures, it is impossible to know if this will have an undesirable effect on reliability. If you notice any difference in fan speed or use the Kronos in a hot environment, be cautions blocking the control slots. |

They're not blocked as the sliders don't rest on the surface like
the wheel does.
It might reduce the chimney effect but the keybed is the more
likely void for heat exchange as the air is mixed and moved by
the internal fan.
