This post is for Sharp. I would like to request support for Youtube and Soundcloud embedding on this forum. These are the most commonly used media sites on this forum. Implementing the embedding is very easy (takes about 3 mins) and would give a nice extra to all forum users.

How to implement Youtube embedding
• Log into the Administration Control Panel of the forum.
• Select the Posting tab.
• Make sure to select BBCodes in the left menu. You'll see a list of the current BBCodes.
• Click the Add a new BBCode button.

You will be directed to a new page. On that page will be 4 sections. I'll explain here what to type in each section.
• BBCode usage
Type here:
Code:
[Youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v={SIMPLETEXT}[/Youtube]

• HTML replacement
Type here:
Code:
<object><param></param><param></param><embed></embed></object>

• Help line
Type here:
Code:
Allows you to embed Youtube videos in your posts using the full URL of the Youtube video: [Youtube]<Full>[/Youtube]

• Settings
Put a checkmark behind Display on posting page
• Click the Submit button.

Embed the tracks from SoundCloud into your post. Use the track URL in your browser: [Soundcloud]http://soundcloud.com/<username>/<track>[/Soundcloud]

• Settings
Put a checkmark behind Display on posting page
• Click the Submit button.

Hello.
It doesn’t work like that on phpBB v2.
Try to add actual YouTube embed code direct from YouTube now. I will take a look at soundcloud next.

Regards
Sharp.

For sound cloud, you can use the embed code they provide, just remove the <object> and </object> commands.

Hmmm.... seem this might require a few tweaks. It kind of screws up the forum when you hit reply.

Thanks so far for giving this an attempt. Smile
I just noticed you're on phpBB2; the code I gave is for phpBB3 so that's my mistake. Sorry. Sad

PS) Those pictures in your Youtube video are really great!

Any plans for upgrading to phpbb3 or perhaps crossgrading to SMF? (in my experience SMF has been better)

Yes, we will be moving away from phpBB completely in the new year to a commercial forum.
