I'd just like to take a moment to thank Jerry for sending the email message out to the Korg staff. I referred the customer service lady to the August 16th post that Jerry put on this site. She checked her work email (I guess that's how she checked it) for that date (or around it) and found the message from Jerry. She put me through to the department that could help me... then one more transfer and I was go to go!!! My replacement buttons are ordered and on the way (the guy said, hopefully they'd be shipped out on today).

I'm very happy and it shows that persistence (without a bad attitude) pays off in the long run.

Thanks Jerry. And I'd also like to send a shout-out to EloiseB in Korg customer support.

Thanks for your patience and willingness to help.

KORG USA for the WIN!!!!! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

RE: Replacing Worn out M3 Buttons

I sent an email to support yesterday and got an email today saying my replacement M3 buttons are on the way! March 21, 2011.

I am very happy with the quick response. Hopefully, it will be easy to install.

Thanks.

Rick

If you buy a new M3 now, does this problem still exist or was something done with new ones being built to eliminate this problem?

OK we all know Korg is replacing worn buttons. But once you get your new buttons what is the trick on replacing them without breaking the switches?

I did not get any instructions on how to replace my buttons and I do not see any Youtube Videos of anyone doing this.

Success!

I replaced the buttons without breaking switches or scratching my keyboard, and it is EASY to do.

I called Korg Service/Support and they suggest to replace the worn button's that you take strong adhesive tape (like duct tape or gaffers tape) and apply the tape to the face button of the worn button, and then yank it out. They did not want me prying the button out with a small screw driver because you can scratch the keyboard and leave tool marks.

I recommend you use their method FIRST. But I tried it, and I couldn't pop them out, so I CAREFULLY used a small jeweler's screwdriver, and they pop out very easily - without leaving tool-marks or scratches if you are careful.

As soon as I finished the job, I put clear tape over the top of all the buttons to protect them from wearing off again. It looks GREAT, and I can tell what button I am pushing once again.

Yeah, the button printing can still wear off. too bad they vendor who makes the M3 buttons for Korg didn't emboss the printing. But once I got my new (free) replacement buttons, I put clear tape over the top of each button. It looks great and you don't even notice it, and it solved the problem.
