PostPosted: Mon Feb 02, 2009 11:02 pm    Post subject: THANKS KORG!!!! Reply with quote

I stumbled upon Jerry's thread here last Wednedsay, and having worn the labels off of several buttons on my year old M3, sent a email to korgsupport and guess what? THE REPLACEMENT BUTTONS ARRIVED FEDEX TODAY, LESS THAN 4 BUSINESS DAYS SINCE I REQUESTED THEM!!!!

I AM AMAZED AT THE QUALITY OF SUPPORT YOU GUYS AT KORG PROVIDE!

JUST ONE MORE REASON WHY I OWN A M1, ST-88, EX-88, M3-88 AND OASYS-88 !!!

One question though, I tried to remove the existing buttons using what looked like a piece of sticky tape, as shown in the installation pictures that came with the button, but maybe my tape isn't quite sticky enough... as it doesn't seem to be able to pull the buttons off. Any thoughts on what to use to remove the buttons? I really don't want to try to pry them off and would appreciate any assistance here...

THANKS AGAIN KORG!

Heather

Try using duct tape. Just be very very careful not to let it touch any other part of the module.

Hi all! Smile

I'm getting a new M3-88 really soon (actually I'm waiting for the thing to arrive the country in the next 2-3 weeks) and I was wondering, after reading on these issues with buttons wearing out, if this is still an issue with newly manufactured units? I mean, maybe Korg changed the buttons... Are the replacement buttons also prone to wearing out?

Finally, if the buttons are the same, is there any way of preventing this from happening? I read of someone putting a little piece of sticky tape over every key to protect them. Is this advisable? I wanna take the best care possible on my new unit...

Thanks in advance!

The replacement buttons ARE different. They look like they have some kind of protective coating over the printing. The original buttons are shiny whereas the replacements have more of a matte finish. I'm still gradually seeing my old buttons fade. I think I've replaced about 50% of my buttons so far.

Geez, I just got my M3 a few weeks ago, do I have to deal with the characters slowly wearing off of the buttons with use over time ? Mine is brand new, what gives here. Should I cut pieces of invisible tape for them now while new to avoid wearing out the letters and numbers in the future.

the only buttons i've had trouble with are like start and locate, small problem, not even worth ordering the replacement labels.

I may just go ahead and cut some small pieces of invisible tape on the ones which I figure will get the majority of wear over time, I'd rather do it now while brand new to extend the lifespan of the most frequently used buttons.
Thanks !

Is KORG offering replacement packs at a discounted price to registered owners? My buttons aren't wore yet but they eventually will be... I would purchase a full set of these updated buttons for a reasonable price. Has anyone experimented with putting a coating other than tape over the old style? Automotive touch up clear coat maybe?

I know the original post was regarding the USA but I found my buttons were very worn and living in Scotland I contacted Korg UK. Replacement buttons were sent free of charge and arrived 2 days later. You can't get better service than that.

I don't know if the offer is still on but I don't see why not.

Did you send the email to support@korgusa.com (if in the USA). I had to order buttons two times. The first time I got the buttons in a week. The second it took a month.

Also be sure to request only the buttons you actually need. You cannot just order an entire set. You can also include part numbers to be helpful.

If you dont hear back just send them a friendly reminder after the holiday weekend.

Here is a list of part numbers ...

You CAN order a complete set (at least in the UK). This is what I did (see previous post), the whole lot came in a couple of days free of charge.
