Just wondering if there's a good freeware prog I could use to get ethereal sounds. |

I can't personally think of a free one ... take a scan through the database over at kvraudio.com is probably the best bet. |

Google free ausio sample sounds. You might be able to find a website that has free samples and that has a sound that will fit the bill for you. I know I've seen a few sites over the years. If you make your own sounds, I know for a fact you could trade one for another. I've traded samples many times with other sound developers and musicians. _________________ And there was this one time at band camp...... |

NI Absynth, a couple of the freely available ensembles for NI Reaktor and Spectrasonics Atmosphere.
Check out the demo of Absynth from nativeinstruments.com ... one of the coolest synths out there for this kind of thing and a whole bunch of other tasks too.

I agree with DAZ that NI absynth and Spectrasonics Atmosphere are among the two best out there. I own Atmosphere and love it. Its easy to use and has a ton of sounds ready to use and it takes very little hard drive space considering the needs of many other softsynths these days.
You may also want to look at some kind of a convolution reverb plug in. You can take the sounds you already have and manipulate them to your liking and get similar types of sounds that will also fill the need for the type of sounds your looking for. _________________ And there was this one time at band camp...... |

Another vote for Absynth.
Also anything by HG Fortune is worth checking out. www.hgf-synthesizer.de |

I agree re. Crystal...and it appears to be capable of quite complex sounds. Fun so far! |

Another vote for Absynth. You should also get Native Instruments Kore Player; it's free and will give you a number of extra sounds to work with (although you can't manipulate them). Also download the Kore Compilation Volume 1 soundpack, which is also free. _________________ Keyboard Rig: Korg Kronos, Moog Sub 37, Waldorf Blofeld Module, Neo Instruments Ventilator II, Moog MiniFooger Delay, Strymon BigSky, Roland KC-150, Mackie 802-VLZ4 Mixer |
