|
|
First time poster so please be gentle. My band uses two x3's in performance. I own three x3's. All the disk drives have gone bad and supposedly they aren't available anymore. I am losing sleep at the thought of not having our sounds properly and religiously backed up. I'm hoping someone can tell me a way to backup (and load) my sounds (P/C/G's) to a laptop using MIDI. Is there an X3 editor out there that works with Windows XP?
Thank you,
John

Yes, I change sound banks in all my synths using System Exclusive data, known as sysex for short. You need to download and install MIDIOX on your computer. It's not an editor per se but a librarian and diagnostic tool. It's freeware and you can get it here:
http://www.midiox.com/
To use it successfully and pain-free, read the documentation that comes with it. And when you attempt to do transfers, make sure that Exclusive is enabled in your synths' MIDI filters.
Kind regards. _________________ Dave Bourke

You can also back up all of that P/C/G data on another synth. I have al my X3 stuff backed up on my Triton Le76 _________________ http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=677304

Interesting. Can a Triton actually produce all of those program and combi sounds from an X3, or are you just saying that the Triton can be used as a memory storage device for X3 data? I would love to be able to replace my X3's with more updated synths, but not at the expense of me having to reprogram all the complicated combis that comprise my live sets. |

No. It can act as a data filer though.

As has been stated, I'm using the Triton as a data filer. My X3 is the rackmount (X3R). keep it around for studio use, and in case the power country gigs come back around.
Nice sounding board though. _________________ http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=677304
