I am a long term beginner player owning a 25 year old Eminent 2000 home theater organ, that I started to learn on with the intent to make my efforts sound more musical to play using their accompaniments. I stopped learning to play after dismal results back then. I am re-fired up after having rented a Yamaha PSR 900 [loved its easy interface but lusted after more realistic arrangements] and a short loan of a Korg pa 800. Now I'm a new user having just bought the pa 500. I like the idea of using the keyboard to play the guitar too, but I have had no luck yet. Is there a sequence that I should follow? I have tried to record a guitar track but get lost in the various screens, and either cannot find or lose the 'guitar mode' touch button. I find the manual is a bit dense, and does not have a simple learning path to perform actions like saving a performance, as the Yamaha does. Or am I getting it wrong?
Thanks to any who can assist. _________________ David |

Hi David,
To start off, just select one of the guitar performance settings and play guitar on the keyboard.
"Guitar Mode" refers to new facilities for creating realistic Styles with guitar backings. There are several styles on your keyboard already that use this. The list of those styles with "guitar mode" tracks is in the Os1.51 Upgrade manual for the Pa800.
If you want to play around with guitar mode tracks for styles, the best thing is to select say "Guitar Bossa" which is one of the new styles, then edit the style, select the guitar track, probably ACC2 or ACC3, and then select the "Guitar mode" tab which will not be greyed out if you have selected a track that was created using "guitar mode".
The special facilities eg strumming, inverted root notes, picked notes etc are explained in your manual. |
