Money is no object for me really... how difficult would it be for me to get a handle of the Radias? I don't expect to be making music the minute I jump on it (or should I?), I just don't want to be so overwhelmed that I won't even know what to do. I've never done keyboarding/synthesizing, is the Radias for me?

The Radias probably isn't the best choice for you. You should be looking at Workstation & Arrangers like the Korg M3, Pa800, Yamaha Tyros2, or if money really is no object, then the Open Labs NeKo 76. These have a lot of features that will help you create music, not just cool sounds. The Radias is a great analog modeled synth, but it isn't an arranger. The Radias or R3 are still fun for beginners to play with, but I think you'll get better results from an arranger instead.

Then spend most your money on keyboard lessons. A good keyboardist will sound great on a $200 Casio WK-110.

in my honest opinion..

i bought the radias as my first synth.. and it was fairly well to get a handle of.

at least for how I use it...

im not really into trance or techno, and thats the biggest flaw for me with the radias... its built for that type of genre..

but, with careful programming and time, you can get any sound out of it you can think of... ive banked alot of custom presets that are just flat out raunchy.

so, to put it in a nutshell, its a great keyboard for trance/techno, but its going to take some time and learning to make it dirty sounding.

if you go to the download section of korgforums.com they have patches for the radias with crap load of presets from other synths, and that deff helped me out as far as creating my own sounds.

Id buy it. you wont regret it if you plan on expiermenting. Smile
