Hiya all,
I was just wondering; as the big O uses an HD, is there any defrag/scan utility one can use to clear up/check the drive? I am very experienced with PC hardware and know this can cause a lot of hassle. Often with freezes or hard to reproduce (read random) problems its either a memory or disk issue where data is either corrupt or to spread out (defragmented).
Does the O do an automatic defrag/scan? If not it can cause bad sectors on the drive in the long run (because of the drivehead(s) having to move excessively to get the data. Ofcourse it could be that the used filesystem obsoletes this for I have no knowledge of Ext3.
Anyone know what (physical) size the HD is? Is it the standard 3,5" or is a smaller laptop grade HD?

In Disk-Mode you have under Utility the Page-option: Check Medium. This will scan your HD for errors and will also repair them.
Under Media Info at the right down corner you can know the size of any HD or USB etc....
