|
|
Hello all,
This week I have purchased a second hand Korg M1, replaced the internal battery and now want to restore factory settings on it via MIDI SysEx using MIDI OX. To achieve this I have tried every single piece of advice I have found on the internet:
- Set EXCL to ENA so that the M1 can receive SysEx data.
- Disabled all memory protects
- Set Global MIDI channel to 1
- Set Clock Source to EXT
- Set memory mode to 100/100/4400
- Set MIDI device to MPU-401 for input and output in MIDI OX.
- PLayed around with the low level buffer settings in MIDI OX so that it doesnt come up with errors.
What do I do from here? Sending SysEx data seems to work OK, in that there are no errors, but nothing happens on the M1!!
Is there a chance the MIDI In port on the M1 is broken?
I hope some real M1 experts can help me from here on because I am clueless |

Most likely , your midi set up is missing a link...
It sounds like you are set up right otherwise...
go through your computer's midi set up again and see if you forgot something
you say "Set MIDI device to MPU-401"...
shouldn't that say M1??? If that is your interface you need to define that the M1 is attached to it
Make sure you have defined your midi set up correctly...
Also try another cable.
Also is the MPU401 your midi interface?
Not all midi interfaces are good for sysex.
I got edirol for that reason. _________________ M1ex owner |

Hello and thanks for your reply,
In the meantime I have bought a new USB-to-MIDI cable and things work just fine now. I used to use an old fashioned MIDI cable for the joystick port on my sound card and apparently something was wrong with that. |
