both my emx and the esx have been sitting arround functioning as preamps and midi for quite some time now... but for some reason today I couldn't help but plug in the emx and jam with it....
after doing so I came to a sad realisation that I've been missing out on one thing in it and one thing only.... it's got some wicked potent bassline potential....
so I think I shall be rethinking my whole live setup, I can't decide weather I just want to use the onboard controlls on it(which I'm bored of btw) or if I want to dedicate a separate channel on my main midi controller(korg microKONTROL) and use encoders to controll the important on the go parameters... hmm
anyways I also discovered that if you sequence the EMX from another sequencer(ie ableton)... but you set the emx clock to internal and leave it stopped, you can instantly change patterns from the sequencer(like switching instrument patches) and it's so fast that in one sigle synth phrase you can use a differnt one on every note...
that has some potential too...
Cyberdude you'll be proud lol...
hmm this brings up another issue tho, the issue being that my soundcard is not super good and unless I give up some of my features I get a noticible delay when using line in :-/ |

Yeah yeah yeah .... i like it .
I normally use cubase to run multiple tracks of Mx/synths .
Am i right in thinkin that i can do the same in abelton but with better live functionality .
I imagine its very usefull at times . Can u automate Fx ?
I've got an earlier version of Abelton but hav just not bothered with it cos of My MX/SH-32/ES-1 sooking me in for hours after work .
Without gettin too techy , what are its most useful standard features ? |

Let me be honest here Ruso...
Sometimes I understand you and sometimes you are beyond my level to fully comprehend.
Could you provide a before and after Block Diagram of your setup?
Note: the pics are nice, but they don't show the connectivity between the devices.
Then once again explain in simple terms why your new "revelation" is better than the previous setup.

you and your block diagrams lol.... hmm let me see if I got something I can draw it out in.... actually no need I'll explain:
EMX midi in goes to a midi out on my lap top's interface, it's audio is going into the line in on a sound card.... it is officially a sound module again instead of pure midi.... The trigger finger kaoss pad and my monster keyboard are all pure midi and are all controlling ableton... line out from my sound card goes into ESX line in, (really for preamping and tube distortion)
why is it better? I forgot how potent the EMX bass lines are... I once again suffer from rattling ceiling syndrome
and please don't use cubase, get a copy of ableton you will not regret the live possibilities.... you can sequence *almost* every single aspect of the electribe and juggle arround between different sequences instantly. |

Ok I now have Ableton Live 6.
Please provide step by step procedure to
"sequence *almost* every single aspect of the electribe
and juggle arround between different sequences instantly". _________________ "Secret to Electribes: push all the buttons, turn all the knobs, record what sounds good!" |
